The date for the coronation of King Charles III has been set for Saturday, 6th May 2023. It’s going to be a historic and memorable day for the millions of us who have never witnessed a coronation - which is anyone under the age of 75! If we assume the coronation route will be of similar length to that used by Queen Elizabeth II in 1953, then you can expect a similar number of people to line the street to watch the procession pass. And it was estimated that on a very wet June day in 1953, around 3 million royal fans stood along the procession route. This means that only 3 million people in the world could truly say “Been there, done that, got the T-shirt”! But... we've moved on since then. You can wear one of these fab coronation T-shirts to celebrate wherever you are!
I think there are some great designs available, and I’ve seen sizes to fit all, even baby grows!
This selection of coronation T-shirts is just a small example of what is available on Etsy and would make a nice keepsake to remind you of the wonderful day you had on the day that King Charles III and the Queen Consort were crowned!

Now that you've got the costumes - or coronation T-shirts - sorted out, it's time to start thinking about your weekend celebrations.
We have some tasty ideas for picnic food and an excellent recipe for coronation chicken, which was created for the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II. I’m sure this is going to be on the menu for us on coronation day, although it’ll be coronation Quorn pieces. Keeping it typically English, our day will also include scones and a Victoria Sponge cake.
If you’re making food for your own party or larger community party and want your contribution to stand out, then you could make some specially shaped biscuits or decorated cakes. It’s amazing what you can do!
Your party will also require decorations, and there is a huge selection to be found on Etsy and amazon.co.uk.
And don’t forget your gifts and souvenirs. We found some wonderful coronation glasses and mugs, and there are some great new books about King Charles III being published.
If you’re not travelling into London to watch the Coronation Procession and want to make the day really special, then what about going to one of the English Heritage Coronation Live Screen events in one of three historic sites across England. Sounds like a great way to socialise and celebrate!
